The Farmer’s Market near the Cathedral

The farmer’s market is small, friendly market in the fish market square (place du Marché aux Poissons). Every Saturday, it hosts ten or so farmers offering outstanding products: poultry, pigeons, Alsatian cured meats, fish, really fresh fruits and vegetables, herbal teas... Flavours that are guaranteed to be irresistible

Organic meals at Ferme Andres: from the farmyard to the plate

Valère Diochet, the chef of Le Pont aux Chats restaurant (rated with 2 chef’s hats and one of Gault & Millau’s Top Picks) goes to the Andres farm to collect his ingredients, which go directly from the field to the plate: seasonal vegetables, mushrooms, eggs and poultry.  Open to everyone, this farm supplies fruits, condiments, jams, milk, dairy products, honey, gingerbread, cured and raw meat... Quality and freshness are served with a smile, while the menu is full of lovely hand-grown organic healthy food..

At these larger, more traditional markets you will find all the produce that are the pride of the region: knack (Strasbourg sausage), smoked shoulder of ham, lewerwurst (liver sausage), bloetwurst (blood sausage), presskopf (parslied pork brawn), lanjaejer (smoked and dried sausage), Alsatian goose foie gras, munster cheese, pretzels, carp, eels, trout, pike, zander, forest fruits, mirabelle plums... All that the region has to offer set out on the stalls.
