Having earned its Family Plus certificate, l’Alpe d’Huez, also provides a multitude of activities for the whole family! The ESF French skiing school (Ecole du Ski Français) has a children’s chalet, where they can take their first steps on skis, lunch in the canteen and even take a nap before going back to ski.
For older children, the pool and the open-air skating rink should allow them to expend a little energy after a day on the slopes, while the new X-Fly space will delight daredevils: a 9m high tower, with zip lines and a free fall jump onto a giant airbag! Not forgetting the permanent toboggan run under the DMC ski lifts, reserved for toboggans with brakes and steering and sledding helmets! (€11, or free with downhill and cross country skiing passes, or for pedestrians).
If there’s bad weather, you might like to take them to the gigantic Palais des Sports for a bit of tennis, squash, climbing or mini-golf, all available with the Premium Card (€40/week) or the amazing indoor adventure course?
Parents have the right to have fun as well, for example by learning to drive on ice, a skill which may prove useful when going uphill in the resort!
If you're seeking some zen, the Spa tour allows you to combine four treatment sessions at different hotels in the resort: a hot stone treatment, Ayurvedic massage or slalom treatment for deep muscle stretching.
You’ll find more information at the l’Alpe d’Huez Tourist Office.
