If your train has been delayed or cancelled, you are in the right place :) Oh yes! You can receive compensation for delays of 30 minutes or more.

Find below all the compensations according to your train company

Good to know: No compensation can be made for delays of less than 30 minutes.

For TGV or INTERCITES in France or international


The G30 applies to TGV or INTERCITES trips. If your trip is with another operator (OUIGO, Thalys, Eurostar, TER, TRANSILIEN), please refer to the following paragraphs.
For eligible trains, SNCF offers compensation in the form of a travel voucher or bank transfer.

*The compensation is calculated on the total ticket price. It cannot be less than 4 Euros.

There are specific calculation rules for some special fares and season tickets.

For INTERCITES 100% ECO trains, the Punctuality Guarantee only applies to delays of at least one attributable hour to SNCF.

If you are a season ticket holder and a Grand Voyageur, Grand Voyageur Plus or Grand Voyageur Le Club loyalty card holder, specific conditions may apply. To find out more, please check the programme-voyageur.sncf.com website.

To claim your compensation:
  • You can fill in the G30 form on line (only available in French), to receive your Travel voucher code. To find out how to fill in the G30 form, please check our dedicated FAQ.
  • If you are not eligible for the G30, send a letter to customer services with your refund request, your full name along with your original tickets, at the following address:

Eurostar (travel between France, Belgium and the UK)


If you are entitled to compensation an announcement will be made by the train manager during the journey.

To obtain your compensation, contact Eurostar Customer Services on 0033 1 70 70 60 99 (10am to 6pm Monday to Friday)within 12 months of your date of travel (2 months if you wish to receive your compensation in €)

You have the right to ask for a compensation which will vary according the delay:

From 60 to 119 minutes :
- An e-voucher corresponding to 25% of the price of the impacted journey
or
- A refund of 25% of the price if it was a single journey and 12,50% of the total price if it was a return ticket.

From 120 to 179 minutes:
- An e-voucher corresponding to 50% of the price of the impacted journey
or
- A refund of 50% of the price if it was a single journey and 12,50% of the total price if it was a return ticket.

More than 180 minutes:
- An e-voucher corresponding to 150% of the price of the impacted journey
or
- A refund of 50% of the price if it was a single journey and 12,50% of the total price if it was a return ticket.

Thalys (travel between France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands)


For delays of 30, 60 and 120 minutes or more, excluding acts of God, Thalys offers its customers Thalys vouchers (valid for 12 months) to the value of 20%, 50% and 100% of the ticket price respectively.

To get your compensation, you can choose:
  • complete the Thalys online form.
  • send the paper form which is given to you at the station or on board or an explanatory letter by post.


To send the paper form:
To obtain your compensation, simply complete the form handed to you on the train or at the station.

Enclose the original ticket and post (stamp required) to Thalys Customer Service (no later than two months following the date of travel).
Please enclose bank details for monetary compensation.

Note: You can use your travel vouchers for the purchase of any SNCF train ticket for travel in France. Payment by travel voucher is only possible at a ticket office at a SNCF station or boutique.

For your OUIGO trips


You can receive compensation for delays of one hour or more.

If your train has incurred a delay of 60 minutes to 119 minutes upon arrival, you can claim compensation of 25% of the total amount of the ticket (options excluded) affected by the delay in vouchers, sent automatically (without any action on your part) at the email address used to book.
If your train has incurred a delay of 2 hours upon arrival, you can claim compensation of 50% of the total amount of the ticket (options excluded) affected by the delay in vouchers, sent automatically (without any action on your part) at the email address used to book.

You can transform your vouchers into bank credit, please contact the OUIGO customer service.
