Book your ticket and chaperone service

 

To book your ticket and take advantage of the SNCF Accès Plus chaperone service (met at a French station and escorted to your seat on the train), contact the Accès Plus centre :

  • by phone on 00 33 890 640 650 (charged at international rate)
  • by fax on 00 33 825 825 957 (charged at international rate)
  • by e-mail : accesplus@sncf.fr

If you can leave your wheelchair and sit in a train seat you may book a standard seat for your journey. To comply with safety regulations, your wheelchair must be folded and stowed away. It must not obstruct the passageways.

 

Contact the help service at the stations on your journey to book assistance.

Please find all the information about facilities for disabled passengers on board the train. Each company has different infrastructure.

Travel on TGV and day-time INTERCITÉS with booking

For travel on TGV

 

Some areas have been specially-adapted to allow you to travel in your wheelchair. When this area is located in 1st class, you pay only the price of a 2nd class ticket (including for your chaperone if your card mentions one).


A small wheelchair, called a "transfer chair" is available on request from the inspector. You can use this chair to get to the toilet if you cannot access it independently.

For daytime travel on the INTERCITES service with booking


INTERCITÉS trains have a Service coach with a special wide door to facilitate wheelchair access and two spaces with foldaway chairs.


You can use the spaces marked "M" or "Mutilés" where priority is for disability card holders.

 

If you are visually impaired and are travelling with your guide dog, book seat 68 in coach 4 or 14 which have spaces free for your guide dog.

Travel on TGV-Lyria (travel between Switzerland and France)

In coaches 1 and 11 there is a place reserved for wheelchair users in 1st class.

 

To book your place and take advantage of the free upgrade, contact an agent at the station and show your disability card.

Travel on Renfe-SNCF(travel between France and Spain)

 

On the Paris - Barcelona route

There is a special area for people travelling in wheelchairs in coaches 1 and 11, in First Class/Preferente. There are also special disabled toilets nearby.
Guide dogs travel free.
 

On the Toulouse-Barcelona, Lyon-Barcelona, Marseille-Barcelona-Madrid routes

There is a special area for people travelling in wheelchairs in coach 8, in Second Class/Turista. There are also special disabled toilets nearby.
Guide dogs travel free.
The person accompanying the disabled traveller enjoys a discount on the Flexi and Essential fares for travel in the same coach.

Travel on Thalys (travel between France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands)

Passengers travelling in wheelchairs are entitled to a special converted seat in “Comfort 1” in coaches 1, 11 and 21 for the same price as “Comfort 2”.

 

In order to make the trip possible, the wheelchair must meet the following specifications:

  • 75 cm wide / 125 cm long
  • Turning diameter: 150 cm
  • Maximum weight: 300 kg, including the occupant and luggage
  • Manual or electric wheelchair

Travel on TER

Some trains have areas specially-adapted for wheelchairs.

 

Contact Accès Plus to check that the train you intend to take is adapted for wheelchair access.

Travel on INTERCITÉS DE NUIT trains (night service in France)

When booking remember to request a bottom couchette for ease of access.

Travel on Eurostar (travel between France, Belgium and the UK)



Travellers in wheelchairs


There is a special area for wheelchair users in Standard Premier and Business Premier classes.

 

The person accompanying the disabled traveller enjoys a discount for travel in the same Standard Premier or Business Premier class coach.

 

To book your place and take advantage of the free upgrade, contact an agent at the station and show your disability card.


Assistance is also available for checking in and getting on and off the train.

 

In stations with a porter service (London St Pancras International, Paris Gare du Nord and Lille Europe), there is a free luggage transport service (maximum two medium-sized cases and a small piece of hand luggage per person).

 

If you request only the porter service for your luggage (and no other assistance), a charge applies. Where this service is available, payment is made at the station.


To use this service you must go to check-in at least 60 minutes prior to departure (40 minutes if you have a carte blanche Eurostar or are travelling in Business Premier).

Travel on TGV France-Italy

Special areas are available in 1st Class for wheelchair travellers.

 

The person travelling with you benefits from an Accompanying person fare, when presenting your card and if stated on the card.

At an SNCF station or SNCF Boutique

Travel on TGV and ICE (travel between France and Germany)

4 places in 1st class in coach 1 are reserved for wheelchair users.
